We're looking forward to being here when A. L. (Sandy) Sanderson visits on April 2, 5:30-6:30. She'll be talking about her novel TIMBER; Fire in the Pines and answering questions. Books will be available and Sandy will be signing them personally.
Another special aspect of the upcoming visit is that Sandy's grandparents farmed in Milaca in the early 1900's. Her parents farmed near Hinckley about 60 miles away. This area holds special memories for her. TIMBER reflects some the of same themes we see here.
This library is such a delight! It's bright, sunny and open. Makes me want to stay and read in front of their fireplace. It's cool that they brought the environment inside the library in every way they could. Even the stone on the fireplace is built with stone native to the area. The artwork and murals display community life such as some of the farming activities that were vital to the economy of this area.
